CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROGRAMME
A basic unit of the programme is a course lasting one term. The Programme Commission decides about the form of its realisation (a lecture, classes, a tutorial, a seminar , a laboratory) as well as about the amount of hours.

At the beginning of the term each application is registered in The Register of Courses and in the individual application cards. In justified cases the students have also the right to chose courses which are not conducted by the Institute. However there is no possibility to attend only one part of proposed classes (for example only a lecture if the programme includes also classes).

THE PRINCIPLES OF COURSES SELECTION AND CREDIT OBTAINING :
An academic year is a credit period. Obtaining the credit for a year of study ,each student is obliged to gather the determined previously number of scores . The scores are accumulated. The crediting scores are as follows :
I year - minimum 40 scores (ECTS 60)
II year - minimum 80 scores (ECTS 120) * ( total number for I and II year)

WHAT IS ECTS ?
Studying abroad can be a particularly valuable experience, it is not only the best way of knowing other countries, languages, cultures and views but what is more it has increasing influence on the scientific and professional career. Respecting the period of studying abroad and the foreign universities’ diplomas is the necessary condition of creating “Europe without borders” in the area of education and training, in which students and teachers could move without any problems. The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) was developed for this purpose as well as for improving procedures and broader respecting studies abroad.
- ECTS guarantees respecting studies abroad by a mother university,
- ECTS allows taking part in the regular classes together with all students, what makes easier bringing all benefits from a full participation in students’ life of the entertaining university. This feature of ECTS distinguishes it among various programmes of students’ departures.
- ECTS allows the continuation of studies abroad. A student can decide to stay at the entertaining university after assumed previously period of stay or even change the university. Universities decide if they accept this fact and describe also the conditions which the student has to fulfil to obtain the diploma or to change the university.
The ECTS scores are the numerical values (ranged from 1 to 60) matched with an individual subject basing on the amount of work which a student must do if wants to gain the credit. They reflect the amount of work demanded by each subject against total amount of work which each student is obliged to do for completing the full academic year of study at the particular university. In ETCS range the amount of work demanded during whole academic year is 60 scores, for the term usually 30 and for the trimester - 20 scores. The ECTS credits are the relative but not the absolute measure of work amount demanded from a student. They determine the part of total work which is needed in a given academic year falling to the subject at the university or institute or department matching these scores. The score system ECTS assures reasonable - taking into consideration the amount of work- the selection of classes programme during studies at another university. The ECTS scores are matched with individual courses and they are given to these students who successfully completed the mentioned above courses, fulfilling assumed previously demands.
Results obtained after completing the course are usually expressing in the form of grades. Many various systems of marking exist in Europe. The scale of ECTS grades was implemented to make the transmission of marks given to students easier for universities.
However, it does not replace the individual scales of grades being obligatory at the others universities. Universities decide themselves in what way the ECTS grades system relates to their own system of marking.
