Surface Spectroscopy

Research topics:

• XPS/SIMS/SEM/EDX study of the early oxidation stages of the FeCrAl alumina-forming alloys;
• study of the penetration of reactive gases into high temperature materials using isotopic exposures and high resolution imaging SIMS;
• segregation and separation processes in thin polymer films studied by SIMS;
• XPS study of surface segregation in yttria stabilised zirconia;
• cation segregation in V₂O₅/WO₃ solid solution as a route of the formation of catalysts.

Research equipment:

• High-sensitivity XPX/AES/SIMS spectrometers (for accurate determination of surface state and composition)
• Scanning microfocused electron and liquid metal ion guns (possible spot, line and surface analyses in 3D)
• UHV chamber for thermal and mechanical sample treatment
