Joint Research Group of Bulk
and Surface Reactions of Solids
Team
head:
Roman Dziembaj, Ph.D. Professor
Staff:
13
Team
leaders:
Prof. Andrzej Baranski,
Ph.D.
Prof. Roman Dziembaj,
Ph.D.
Prof. Agnieszka Pattek,
Ph.D.
The joint group consists
of the TG/DTA/DSC Division of the Regional Laboratory, the Group of Catalysis
and Solid State Chemistry II and the Group of Heterogeneous Reaction Kinetics
(both groups are from the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University).
Research
topics:
bulk reactions - redox
processes and phase transformations in metals and metal oxides, characterization
of industrial catalysts (especially problems of activation and deactivation),
kinetics of solid state reactions - modelling, gasification of carbon materials;
surface reactions - adsorption/desorption
phenomena, catalytic reactions, segregation phenomena and poisoning of
catalysts, thermal desorption of alkaline metal promotors, carbon deposition;
modelling of bulk and surface reactions;
acidity and ageing of
paper - joint project for the whole Regional Laboratory in collaboration
with the Jagiellonian Library, Kraków and the National Library,
Warszawa (project leader: Prof. Andrzej Baranski)
The group is strongly
oriented on co-operation with industry. Most important projects have been
done for: "Moscice" Tarnów, "Dwory" Oswiecim, PMO Kraków,
HTS Kraków, Nitrogen Plant Pulawy.
Research
equipment:
Thermoanalyzer (Metler)
reconstructed and computerized
TG/DTA/DSC analyzer (NETZSCH)
ESCA 100 (VSW) with XPS,
AES, ISS, MS
TPR/TPD equipment with
sensitive GC and MS detectors
