Research
topics:
multitechnique surface
analysis with atomic resolution: structure of self-assembled molecules
on surfaces, structure and electronic properties of metalic clusters on
insulators, nano-scale surface modification with electron and ion beams;
studies of early stages
of epitaxial growth of ionic insulators on semiconductors;
photon- and electron-stimulated
desorption from surfaces;
depth profiling of multilayer
composites and metallurgical samples.
Research
equipment:
UHV system which consists
of two chambers connected with the magnetic transfer system with the base
pressure of 10-10 mbar equipped with:
UHV AFM/STM system (ultra
high vacuum atomic force microscope and scanning tunnelling microscope
system with 'non-contact mode' AFM);
Multimode ambient condition SPM system
(scanning probe microscope with the multimode head working in the following
modes: AFM, NC-AFM, LFM, STM, STS);
LEED system with CCD camera;
Hemispherical energy analyzer
(used for AES, EELS, ISS techniques);
Quadrupole mass spectrometer
with electron impact ionizer (used for residual gas analyzing, SNMS studies,
correlation TOF technique);
Effusion cell used for
MBE;
X-ray source for XPS;
Photon-counting system
and the monochromator for optical measurements (e.g. luminescence);
Electron and ion guns.
All the systems are computer-controlled
providing computer acquisition of data.
